Gomes celebrates after Tottenham qualified in the English Cup

4/Feb/2010 –

Tottenham qualified after beating Leeds 3-1 yesterday, 3rd February, and they achieved a slot in the second round of the English Cup. The two teams tied 2-2 in the away match.

The attacking midfielder Defoe scored three goals for the Spurs but Luciano Becchio hit back for the home team.

‘The stadium was packed and the opposing team put a lot of pressure on us, but were able stand it. We pursued victory throughout the match and fortunately we made it. Now we got a slot in the second round’, says Gomes. He reported for work with the team today, 4th February, for recovery practice.

Tottenham will play against Bolton in the second round next Saturday 13th February. The team will be back on the pitch in the English Championship this Saturday 6th February to face Aston Villa.
